Meet Dave Welch of b.spoke in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Welch.

Dave, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My first job was in retail, I worked for a department store called Bullocks as a retail manager where I was promoted through a variety of different departments. After a few years there, I decided to try something new and answered to an ad for a local custom clothing company. I quickly found myself immersed in the business of designing men’s suits, something that came naturally to me. Not too long after, my entrepreneurial drive took over and I decided to start my own company in 1995. From partnerships to a solo career and everything in-between my dream ultimately stayed the same, so in 2012 my wife and launched b.spoke with a plan to grow my brand bigger than myself.

Has it been a smooth road?
Owning your own business always comes with times of turbulence. 2008/2009 was a big struggle for a lot of people with the economy, including myself. When my clients were unsure about their own business, it took its toll on mine. After overcoming that, came the building of our current b.spoke showroom- building the right business model, signing leases and ensuring growth has had its challenges, but that’s what comes with the territory of working towards success. We work through the bumps in the road and overcome.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with b.spoke – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
b.spoke offers bespoke, made-to-measure and ready-to-wear men’s clothing. Our master clothiers and professional stylists custom build wardrobes to fit your lifestyle. I believe that we don’t just sell clothes, we sell confidence. Our mission is to create a wardrobe that is reflective of who you are and how you live your life. We believe that fashion is not about what you wear, but how you wear it and most importantly, why you wear it.

What’s your favorite memory from childhood?
Right out of college, I got the opportunity to teach English in Tokyo, Japan for a month. It was a great experience, everything from the culture to the people, I really enjoyed that time in my life.
