Meet Dave Muesbeck of David Daniel Adventures in Murrieta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Muesbeck.

Dave, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I always had an interest in photography and enjoyed taking photos. Finally in 2012, I decided to pursue photography further and bought a Canon Rebel camera kit from Costco. Within 6 months of purchasing my camera, I started David Daniel Photography.

I made a Facebook page and began building my website. I hired a company to build my site the way I wanted it and absolutely loved the way it turned out. I started taking landscape photos, mostly of beach sunsets. I would also take my camera hiking and attempt to capture more nature and wildlife shots. Over several months, I updated my equipment to truly have the right equipment for landscape photography. I also took various landscape photography classes through a local Orange County photographer that tremendously increased my photography skills.

In 2013, I decided to give portrait and commercial photography a try. I started with portraits for family and friends. I also did a few real estate shoots, a fleet of vehicles for a local company and some product shoots for a parts catalog.

In 2015, I found myself taking more landscape photos while I was hiking and enjoying the outdoors. I decided to switch my name to David Daniel Adventures. I changed my main focus of photography to selling my landscape photos and blogging about my various outdoor adventures.

Now in 2017, I am selling fine art landscape photographs, working on my blogs, and continuously updating my website with all the trails and outdoor adventures I am lucky enough to experience. I still enjoy shooting the occasional family portrait but my true passion lies in the outdoors.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting off, photography was difficult but still enjoyable. I struggled to learn the settings on my camera and how the ISO, shutter speed and aperture all work hand in hand together. At the same time, I was new to Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. It took quite a while to learn my way around both programs and be able to edit my photos professionally. I definitely struggled with “over editing” at first. I started to realize that if you learn your camera’s settings correctly and take the photo right in the first place, you need less time editing. Less time editing means less time at the computer and more time outside taking photos!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about David Daniel Adventures – what should we know?
David Daniel Adventures specializes in Fine Art Photography and Outdoor Adventures. I love taking beach side sunset photos and just enjoying the tranquility of my surroundings at the time. I love it when I see others appreciate my photos enough to purchase and hang up at home. I am known for or would like to be known for taking breath taking sunset photos and really capturing the moment. I like making the viewer feel like they were there at the time and that they are part of the image. I am very proud of the amazing website I have and that over 5 years later I still pursue my photography passion, even while working a 60 hour a week full time job. What I like to try and set apart from others is showing my viewers the beauty of your everyday surroundings. No matter where you live, work or hang out, you are surrounded by some type of beautiful nature. If captured correctly your views of something you see every day will change your perspective every time you see it again in the future.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Creativity, passion and persistence. It’s so easy to just stop taking photos, or stop maintaining my website but you need to keep motivating and challenging yourself to achieve the next step.
