Meet Dava McCoy of Dazzling D’s Princess Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dava McCoy.

Dava, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Dazzling D’s Princess Productions was formed by myself in 2010 while attending graduate school studying psychology. At the request of a friend who ran a traveling tea party business, I started to employ my singing and acting experience, as well as a love for kids, by impersonating popular children’s characters at birthday parties. Performing for children had always been a passion of mine as I grew up doing musical theater. Those experiences coupled with my over 10 years of babysitting, teaching, and studying child/family psychology, made this the perfect job for me! I continued to do parties until I met my wonderful husband, Patrick, married, and became pregnant with our now 3-year-old son, Quinn. It was at this point that Patrick urged me to take my passion for children and entertainment to a new level – make it a career! With his support, Dazzling D’s began its transformation into the company it has become today. With almost 50 performers on staff, we are proud to offer over 100 costumed characters, face painters, balloon twisters, and makeover artists, servicing all of Southern California!

Has it been a smooth road?
Running Dazzling D’s is a full-time job! There is much, much more than goes into a party than just putting a costume on a pretty young girl and telling her to have a good time with the children at an event. To start, keeping up with the constantly evolving children’s entertainment industry can be quite an endeavor! Planning ahead is key and being willing to take risks by preparing costuming even before a movie/show comes out is just part of the job. You never know who/what is going to be popular and you don’t want to miss the boat! Sometimes characters are an instant hit and other times, they go out maybe once or twice ever! In the end, Dazzling D’s believes in quality over quantity. Although we do offer over 100 characters for hire, we strive to ensure that each and every costume is expertly made and impeccably maintained. We believe this is the cornerstone of providing each customer with a 5-star experience.

Dava, Dazzling D’s owner and a mother herself, has had a love of working with children, party planning, and princesses all of her life. With over 15 years of experience teaching and performing, Dava is so excited to be able to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to your child’s next party! With a Master’s Degree in Psychology and Child Development, Dava has personally designed party packages that will engage and entertain guests of all ages, providing hours of fun activities with everything from singing and dancing to interactive games and bubble play!

Customization of activities is always available at no additional charge and we welcome special requests. We document all customer needs and even have your performer/artist contact you prior to the event to re-confirm all party details. Customer service is of the upmost importance to our staff and we strive to ensure a 5-star experience at each and every one of our events!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our industry is constantly growing and evolving with the ever-changing entertainment industry. Although I am sure that we will have a whole new realm of popular children’s characters in the next 5-10 years, Dazzling D’s will continue to prepare for these transitions while focusing on customer service and quality control.

Character packages start at only $110. Multiple package offerings/durations are available to ensure we can meet all customer’s specific event needs.
Non-costumed face painting and balloon twisting artistry starts at $85/hour.
