Meet Darryl Hobson of Pressing On

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darryl Hobson.

Darryl, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m 34 from Flora MS, but now reside in Ridgeland Ms. I start doing funny videos after the passing of my mom from breast cancer, she would’ve been 48. The year before, I had just lost my grandma to colon cancer so it was double grief for me. Ironically it was all in the same month of November, only with a cousin and best friend of course different years. So November is a pretty hard month for me. I had lost 2 of the most important women in my life because nobody is going to love you like your mama and grandma lol. With death, you realize life is short and you shouldn’t be anything other than happy. So I turned my grief into smiles, I kept my mind busy and folks on other things like making others smile nobody what it was and I always try to make things that everybody can laugh about. In the things that I post, I looked to the comments for a smile and they never let me down lol. So basically this was a way for me to deal with my grief of losing my loved ones. So my following grew of course.

Now my daughter(my dog) Shirley Came about when I lost a brother in March of 2020 his dog had just giving birth maybe a couple of weeks before he passed. I wasn’t expecting to get a dog no time soon but I had to get one of his puppies that way, I knew at least one of them would be well taking care of. Shirley was the original puppy I picked out but somehow I ended up with the one I was supposed to be in my life, before I walked to my car with her the name Shirley just popped into my head lol. The love that I have been missing out on She showed up and filled my heart ever so full I mean it really overflows. She is the sweetest and minds her daddy just like a child would do, lol really talk to her like she is one and she understands me, she knows when I’m serious, playing I mean it’s like we were meant to be and ever so grateful to her, she has the love I been missing, she loves me unconditionally. So I decided to share her with world she makes me so happy and now she put smiles on others. I’m the oldest out of 9 including my brother that passed, I love my family and I also want to leave behind my videos so that when my day comes, they can go back laugh their pain away. I’m just a regular guy fighting my battles and putting smiles on other’s faces. A Smile goes a long way.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road especially with losing my job in January of 2020 then COVID hit, lost my brother in March, just recently started back working in September so now I have a lot of catching up to. My followers have kept me above water because they look for my videos or whatever I post. So I know I have to keep pushing and that’s what I’ve been doing.

What else should our readers know?
Just me being who I am trying to inspire others to keep pushing on no matter their story.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My parents had me at very young age and not many can say they’ve met there great great grandparents I but I did and very thankful for because that was area where more kids was raised with respect because grandma and granddaddy didn’t play. I remember one time I most have been mouthing off to my granddaddy and made the mistake of running out the house from a whopping maneeee what I do that for. My granddaddy tore my butt up, lol.
