Meet Darren Pitts of The New Norm Clothing in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Pitts.

Darren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio and been living in Los Angeles for about two years now. I moved here to continue pursuing my career as an Actor and commercial print model. I started making clothes about ten years ago with a friend of mine from high school for a Local Cleveland streetwear brand. Fast forward ten years later, I decided it was time to branch off and create my own brand which turned into a Passion project.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When making clothes, it’s never really a smooth road. There’s times where samples come back wrong or important packages aren’t delivered on time that were needed for photoshoots. I’d say the biggest struggle for me was navigating around during the quarantine “stay at home” order that was enforced on us, and I also had to deal with warehouses and manufacturing closing down so I’d say things got pretty rocky along the way but here we are!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The New Norm Clothing story. Tell us more about the business.
The New Norm Clothing was developed during these recent unforeseen times. It was ignited by the global change we all faced which kept us inside our homes hence the logo formation of a house. It represents those who embraced the change, evolved and prepared themselves with the mindset that our normal way of life will be much different than before once we step back out into the world. We decided to create and give a fresh new experience to walk out into your New Norm. We specialize in making dope unisex casual streetwear pieces. We are most proud of being a company who believes in and pushes the agenda of diversity and equality. What separates us from others is our attention to detail and most importantly our quality clothing.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
To be honest, I don’t believe in luck, I believe in God. My faith in God has played a tremendous role in my life whether it’s opened doors for my career in acting and also my business. Most importantly it has gotten me here to Los Angeles with multiple outlets to do both.
