Meet Dante D’Amico of Dantedreamsbig

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dante D’Amico.

Dante, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After being kicked out of my parents’ house at 17, I moved into the projects where I quickly developed a drug addiction to any high I could get my hands on. Drugs and arrests go hand in hand, and shortly after being arrested for the final time, my friend who lived in the west side of the US told me to get out of that environment and give California a shot. It didn’t take long for me to learn that it doesn’t matter where you travel to if you bring the same luggage. I continued to make the same mistakes. It was ultimately a realization during a very toxic relationship, with who I thought was the life of my live, where I said to myself I don’t want to live this way anymore. That realization led me to the most important person I have met to date, my therapist Deborah Cluff. It took many years and much counseling, but I unlearned unhealthy habits, and I eventually laid down the foundation to build a healthy life. Now that I have transformed myself from petty criminal to business man, from scumbag to gentlemen, from darkness to light, from drug dealer to yoga instructor, I’m looking to spend my life in service, helping others see the transformation potential in themselves.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been as smooth as a porcupine’s back. My biggest challenges were just unlearning and learning. Unlearning I didn’t have to be angry all the time, while learning how to love myself. Unlearning how to be a bad employee who got fired from every job, and learning how to be a stand up employee. Unlearning drugs aren’t the only high, and learning how to enjoy laughter and healthy relationships as a sustainable high. Unlearning life doesn’t have to be so dark, and learning how to shine my light on others.

Please tell us about Dantedreamsbig.
I’m known for my convictions in positivity. I’ve been through the fire. I speak so strongly about the light, because I know the weakness in darkness. Motivational speaking is my calling. I am currently channeling that through my teachings in yoga. Because of what I have been through, I am so understanding the space I create for people makes them feel safe. They get the time and space to sort through the cobwebs in their own mind, and together we untangle problems, and grow.
