Meet Danny Flynn of Replika Vintage in Lincoln Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Flynn.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Danny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I suppose I started collecting clothes as a fashion stylist in the 1990s,But actually goes back further than that to my weekly teenage trips to St Vincent de Paul & the local goodwill to find “looks” for the weekend. Then it sort of morphed into renting to clients and then too other stylist for music videos, commercials etc.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has actually. I’m extremely lucky… Maybe because it’s all I really know and love.

Replika vintage – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
First off, I don’t keep set business hours. I’m appointment based. I sell vintage, contemporary vintage and future vintage. I stock a bit of men’s, mostly women’s. My niche (so I’m told) is the Avant Garde designers that are not so easy to find, because they are not massively produced.
Comme des Garçons
Yohji Yamamoto
Junya Watanabe
Martin Margiela
Vivienne Westwood
Jean paul Gaultier
Hussein Chalayan
John Galliano
Kansai Yamamoto

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I suppose happiness is success for me, I don’t look for specific markers really, As long as I love what I’m doing, And I’m meeting and working with awesome, amazing people it’s all good!
