Meet Danny Drysdale of Eight Little Crickets in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Drysdale.

Danny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started with an understatement, put our heads down and went to work on our vision. We got busy doing what I call now “Stacking No’s” – because it seems every solid yes is stacked with 20 rejections. Commuting to LA from various locations, we developed an international roster of clients over years of travel and personal investment. It all started with the tumultuous world of women’s skateboarding, where we were introduced to various future clients. At some point, we discovered that music video was a knack, and that really got the ball rolling for us. Next thing we knew we were traveling Asia and Europe with various artists supporting their brands and documenting their careers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We’ve found that most relationships take years to grow and nurture. The odd thing is that the first project that got us going is still sitting in an archive somewhere. There have been fantastic eras that make all the in-betweens feel worth it. I wouldn’t say the road has been rough, I would politely call it an adventure. It is intensely competitive out there – so it’s been a wild ride adjusting to the constantly changing landscape of production. Good thing we love it!

Please tell us about Eight Little Crickets.
Not sure how this happened but we have produced content in 40 countries – for various platforms and genres. Our most well-known work would likely be our music videos with our now friends The Killers. We did a music video for them back in 2008 and after a sketch, we produced for the NME awards featuring an outspoken Mike Tyson. We recently finished a documentary with Ilya Lagutenko from Vladivostok Russia, featuring his prolific band Mumiy Troll. Our most proud moments are to come I’d say as we just finished our first comic book in what looks like a series of concepts that we are aiming to produce into animated series and live action feature films. Excited to see where it all goes from here!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
It’s been said that a true sign of happiness is being able to look back on the road you’ve traveled and find comfort in the idea that you’d be willing to do it all over again to get where you are today – that being said, I would’ve loved it if my past self would have focused more on screenplays, so I would have more to play with today as we grow into the future. Oh and I would’ve focused on more commercial work and less donuts.
