Meet Danielle Lewis of Monday Swimwear in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Lewis.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As an LA native, I’ve always been drawn to the hustle of the city. Growing up in the South Bay, I was always surrounded by like-minded people who either strive to be successful or had creative ambitions to stand out and make a name for themselves. I attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising from 2010-2012 and earned my Associate of Arts Degree in Visual Communications and returned back from 2014-2016 and earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

In addition to a full course load at FIDM, I worked full-time at Bottega Louie. I think having such a busy schedule was really good for me in my early 20s. It taught me how to balance my work, school, and a social life. Shortly before I graduated, I thought it best to begin my career in my true passion, which is fashion. I accepted a job as a Customer Service Manager with For Love & Lemons in 2015. As the business continued to grow, I too grew into different roles with the company wearing multiple hats and learning all aspects of the business from customer service, order processing, inventory management, website management, digital marketing and much more. Working alongside the Digital Marketing Manager, I oversaw over 100 products on their e-commerce site, managed all site PDPs, ensured product descriptions, details, and images were accurate and up-to-date and merchandised the E-Commerce site to create an engaging and unique shopping experience. In this role, I really enjoyed working with the team to stand out in the e-commerce industry and creating the best customer experience as possible.

After 4.5 years, it was bittersweet to say goodbye to the For Love & Lemons team to join the Monday Swimwear team. Founded by Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman, I was inspired by their transparency that reflected the same values and goals I personally connected to. I am so grateful for everything Ive learned from the people I’ve met and worked with.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life always has bumps in the road and success isn’t handed down without hard work. I think the challenges I’ve had have given me an opportunity for growth and development. One of the most difficult hurdles I’ve had to deal with is the sense of being undervalued by my colleagues. Becoming an advocate for myself in the workplace environment has been one of the most valuable skills I’ve developed. Colleagues may not see eye to eye on strategies or ideas but it is so important to be open-minded and have respect for others always.

Monday Swimwear – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I currently work as the eCommerce Content/Experience Coordinator for Monday Swimwear. In this role, I work with the Digital Marketing Manager to develop and implement the merchandising, content, marketing and the operations of the e-commerce site to maximize sales and profitability. This is a highly collaborative position that works cross-functionally with the Director of Operations and Social Media Manager.

I am proud to be apart of a company that values and listens to its customers. Monday Swimwear’s goal is to instill confidence and power within their female audience. An essential model of achieving this is ensuring their designs are based on timeless pieces they know will compliment and flatter the female form, as opposed to recreating size-specific, temporary trends.

I firmly believe that I set myself apart from others with the confidence I have in my role. Ensuring that the job is done and going the extra mile and always helping others.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success as having a positive impact on the team that I work with and the output of the work that I do. I don’t necessarily have any milestones that would define success for me, but I think of success as a process that I am always trying to improve.
