Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Raminfard.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m an artist and teacher. I’ve been drawing and painting for 30 years. I have been teaching for about 15 years and I’ve personally taught over 750 students how to draw and paint. I started my art school in my dad’s garage in 2002. We now have 2 locations, with two more in the works! We currently offer both group and private art lessons and have a staff of 4 art teachers available to our many, many students. With students all over the globe, we pride ourselves on the quality of education we offer each and every student!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No. There were a number of struggles. Financial, for sure. But the biggest of all was the emotional struggle. Fear! Fear can cripple you if you let it. Luckily my many mentors in life taught me to surrender that fear and move forward and that made all the difference. I also struggle to understand what it was I truly did for living? What was my identity and what did my school do as a result. It wasn’t till someone said the purpose of any business is to help people live a better and more fulfilling life. That changed everything for me. In fact, I now see our job as a mission to enrich people lives through art education.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Raminfard School of Arts – what should we know?
We are art school developed for the novice student who has always wanted to draw and paint. What makes us unique is that we allow for student to come and go as they please. This is possible only through individual one-on-one instruction. To me, it’s the only way to really learn. What I am most proud of is our students. One of them showed their work at the Getty! A number of other students went on to become full time artist. What I have learned is that when you offer real learning to someone who wants it, there is no limit to what they can achieve.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My mother and father, but mostly my wife who kept me going. I love her so much!
