Meet Daniel Ortega of Blue Cactus Printing in Arcadia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Ortega.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Daniel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We started out of a spare bedroom at home. At the time, I was working a full-time job, but I needed something creative to do in the afternoons. I took a 2-day screen printing class and started printing for friends and family. Then my wife and I got the opportunity to open a business in the Mexico, so we took the chance and started a small manufacturing shop in Tijuana. After a few years, we realized that we needed to come back to Los Angeles and knew that screen printing would play a big part. We decided to open Blue Cactus Printing with the little money we had left and haven’t looked back.

Has it been a smooth road?
Along the way our road has been more like an unpaved road filled with potholes. It definitely is a journey! We’ve struggled, I think, just like many other entrepreneurs and business owners. Keeping positive and knowing that we are building the foundation for a paved road is what motivates us to keep going.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
So Blue Cactus Printing is primarily a screen printing and embroidery shop. We’ve been in business for two years now, and I think we’re becoming known for the relationships we build with our clients. We love to tell their story. The way we do that is by printing it on a t-shirt. We realize that a t-shirt is not just a t-shirt. It’s your message to the world, your sign of support for a cause, your battle cry.

As a company, we are most proud of the stories we tell. When we sit down with a client, we really try to get a feel for what the meaning of the t-shirt will be. Will it unite your team? Will it make your business stand out? Our goal is to really make your t-shirt tell its own story.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is a great place to start out in screen printing. In Los Angeles there are so many opportunities within a 5 mile radius of where ever you are. Everything from small businesses to the fashion industry here.
