Meet Daniel Church

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Church.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started out just singing songs for family and friends at church and family gatherings. Never really took it seriously to be honest. I got older and saw a man playing the piano and singing and I don’t know it just woke something up within me.

So I started playing the piano and just singing heartfelt songs I would just make up on how I felt. Still didn’t think anything of it, I was just doing something for myself.

After getting involved briefly in some musical theater I ended up joining a singing group that needed some songs so I wrote and sang with the group. The group didn’t last but I had definitely caught the bug by then that music is something that makes sense in my life. So I ended up meeting Eric Carter also known as “Doc” who gave me all access to his studio and let me find myself musically. I recorded at all times of the night just experimenting.

After getting some recognition in the Milwaukee music scene and losing my job, I decided that I wanted to relocate to Los Angeles. Not knowing where to start I just kind of let God work. So I just hit the streets of Los Angeles showcasing his vocal/writing ambition throughout the city; working with super producer “Rodney Jerkins” and “The Underdogs”, cowriting records with “Eric Dawkins, Eric Bellinger, and more.

Daniel has collaborated and worked with some of todays hottest artist such as Kid Ink, Jason Derulo, Trevor Jackson, and Mack Wilds just to name a few. Excited for the release of his upcoming EP, Church is working to become a branded staple in the entertainment industry.

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not, Within the first three years of moving here, I had been homeless a hand full of times. Just struggling whether or not to get a job or continue to give music my all. You partner that with having child on the way and dealing with pent up traumas that stem from your childhood all while trying to pursue your dream and find yourself makes a good recipe for stress.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I make music. I sing and I write songs. I am most proud of just being able to write for artists like Kid Ink and Jason Derulo. It’s truly a blessing to go from living in the midwest, not knowing any artist personally to helping them push their vision forward. I believe what sets me apart from others is my unique melody choice as well as my ability to write from a very vulnerable perspective that people can feel and relate too.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my industry moving from created artists to organic artists. I feel and see music getting back to what its’ supposed to do which is make people feel good, raise consciousness, and find words to express things that a world of people may not know how to express but they know they feel it.
