Meet Daniel Anvari of Chasing the Stoke Productions in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Anvari.

Daniel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I picked up my first camera as a kid. Most of my work today is as a cinematographer/DP, but in the beginning I was fascinated with photography. I had seen my dad’s old Canon with his collection of glass in the garage many times. I took some photography classes and experimented with lighting. Then as a teen I bought a Camcorder and started to play around with video and basic editing. In 2017, I founded my media production business, “Chasing the Stoke Productions”. I stacked up some work, shooting ads and short commercials, while still snapping photos. I also became a commercial drone pilot. Then a friend asked me if I had ever shot a music video. I would watch music videos on MTV instead of morning cartoons as a kid. Now I get to make those same videos.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
All I will say is that “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor”.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a freelance cinematographer/director of photography (DP). Any time I can convey a story, I’m stoked. I have been blessed to work on many projects, such as branded content, commercials, weddings, and music videos. All of those different situations have taught me that the key to this industry is being able to adapt to any challenge, whether you have a crew or you are filming solo.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t necessarily believe in luck as much as I believe in Energy. I think that the Energy you put forward every day manifests itself into what you want in life. I also believe that we carry others’ energy with us, which is why we have to be so careful of how we give it out and who we spend our time with.
