Meet Dani Miles of Impressi Marketing in Santa Monica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Miles.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My career began at Convergent Wealth Advisors, when it was one of the largest independent investment firms in the country. I was rapidly promoted through a series of sales and marketing positions, and ultimately reported directly to the president. I oversaw firm-wide content creation, management, and editing—from websites to public relations to social media (one of the benefits of working at a boutique firm: I certainly was involved in a lot!). During my tenure, marketing-generated sales leads increased by more than 700%, and I headed the campaign that resulted in Convergent being selected by Barron’s magazine as the #1 Advisor in the country from a universe of tens of thousands.

While with Convergent, I also managed the sales process for a nationwide network of 12 business development officers. Utilizing my passion for technology, I integrated the sales process with the company’s CRM system and built a predictive sales pipeline model that is still used to forecast sales.

Sony Pictures Entertainment hired me in 2014 (Hollywood called, I answered) to drive marketing strategy for their home entertainment division. Working closely with a myriad of internal and external resources, I crafted marketing briefs, including publicity, added value, artwork, packaging, TV spot, print, digital, and radio. In my first year with the company, I was selected to lead the marketing program on one of Sony’s two Academy Award®-winning films.

With both small and large corporate experience under my belt, I set out to build my own company, Impressi Marketing. Since early 2016 I’ve evolved the business from full-service marketing to earned media. Through these efficiencies and focus, Impressi is able to offer what other companies are not: a results-driven model. Clients only pay when we deliver—much different from the retainer model most marketing and PR agencies employ. I am proud to offer a service centered on ROI—the only model, in my mind, that is fair and logical to clients!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When a business is your own, you cannot hide behind any walls. I have always put the most pressure on myself to succeed (no external forces needed), so that has never been an issue. My challenges have had to do with accepting change as a part of starting and growing a business. Most of the clients I work with are business owners, so they understand the process, analysis, and evolution of models. Tracking what’s working and what’s not has long been a responsibility (and enjoyed habit) of mine, but having the courage to pivot and act on those findings is something I’ve needed to learn and accept along the way.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Impressi Marketing – what should we know?
Impressi secures earned media placements for companies and their principals. We get them quoted and their articles published in relevant media outlets. We generate backlinks and establish them as though leaders in the eyes of their target audience(s)—and Google. Most importantly, we generate content for them to push out to their network, working seamlessly with existing marketing campaigns, to boast third-party testimonials and establish credibility. The process is quick, painless, and digital. What sets us apart from others? We only get paid when we deliver. Clients no longer need to worry about massive monthly retainers and question marks when it comes to ROI. This model itself (and the fact that it works!) is what I am most proud of.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Ownership. I treat my clients like they are my own companies, which fuels my drive for results and attention to detail.
