Meet Dana Arnett of Wicked Bionic in Westwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Arnett.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My partner Carlos Sapene and I were both entertainment executives with many years of experience between us. I was a VP of Post Production with a top 5 reality TV Production Company for over a decade. Visioning and building a department for a growing company was a tremendous experience and managing big budgets, post production teams and maintaining relationships with our partners at the networks – plus delivering great shows – was the focus of my TV career. Carlos worked as a digital executive for NBC Universal on some of the biggest social media campaigns and advertising products at E! Online, Style Network and Bravo.

After working together on a rebrand for PopTV.com in 2014/2015 Carlos and I decided to partner in a digital agency and launched Wicked Bionic in early 2015. Each of us wanted to have our own business instead of growing one for someone else so we teamed up. It has been a fantastic experience being a business owner and especially doing it with someone else.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Creating, developing and running a new business is a challenge! I understand now why it’s not for everyone. The biggest challenge is always looking ahead and staying in development mode while paying attention to the projects that are on deck. It took a bit to find this balance and therefore I would prefer not to have to go back and learn it again!

Wicked Bionic – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Wicked Bionic is excellent at creating marketing strategies for businesses and brands, designing and executing campaigns in print, radio, out-of-home, video and digital. Our clients work with Wicked because they know our methods are successful at identifying, reaching and engaging the consumer that will maximize their goals.

As a marketing agency, we are very focused on what we do and doing it well. I am really excited that this year we’ve added government contracting work to our portfolio with initiatives for the Los Angeles Public Library that allow us to reach out to the people of Los Angeles and drive them to and engage them with our client. There’s nothing like the opportunity to market in your own city and see the results on bus stops, trains, billboards as well as digital.

I am most proud of the talented and professional team we have assembled: award-winning graphic designers, developers, content writers and new business execs. Plus we wrote a book on Influencer Marketing: Influence Over Coffee on Amazon: http://amzn.to/2jchL27

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
A potential client comes to us and says:

“I’ve tried X number of digital agencies (or marketing campaigns or web developers or _____ fill in the blank) and it doesn’t work. I’m just not getting more business.”

“I still don’t have the website I want and I’ve spent a gazillion dollars.”

“I’ve tried social media campaigns myself and they never work.”

Nothing makes me happier then looking at them, their business, assessing if they have something we can work with and then delivering. If I could tell you how many times people come to us so deflated or disappointed.

Then we build them a smart, functional website that they are proud of or created a media campaign and delivered reports showing response and engagement beyond their wildest dreams. We do it every time and seeing the client happy, their business injected with new excitement – now THAT’S worth the price of admission.
