Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisyiona Howlett.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I had gone to a conference a few years ago regarding purpose and people who were following their purpose. I hadn’t yet determined my own and became a bit obsessed with the concept. During meditation, it was revealed that I was supposed to help people by sharing my own mental health journey with others. And I was terrified so I didn’t do that. Instead, I ran away from my purpose for a few years but kept ending up there having to face it. Eventually, I just decided to embrace it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. I remember navigating my first mental health page with ONLY quotes for about a year. No photos of me were ever shared, I never went live or even mentioned my real name. I was afraid of what others would think of me and wondered if they’d question my validity to share my story. Deep down I felt that I didn’t deserve to share my struggles. Then there were times where those closest to me did judge me but surprisingly that didn’t affect me as much as I thought it would. By that time, I’d already begun activating my positive mindset so nothing anyone else could say would really affect me more than myself.
Please tell us about The Anchored Faith.
Mental health and teaching women about self care and self love is my life’s passion.
Worthy I AM Journal is a mental health and wellness 52-week prompt journal. It allows the writer to express themselves without feeling silenced, judged, or feeling a need to be “perfect”. They are allowed to be themselves authentically and just write however and whatever they feel.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Going to my grandmother’s house in the summer. I was named after her so we always shared a special bond. She was a true southern bell who grew her own fruits and veggies, made home-cooked meals and always tended to her garden. My favorite time was spending it with her and my older sister.
