Meet Cyndy Bartelli, Author/Speaker in San Fernando Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyndy Bartelli.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
There were early indications that writing was in my future. If my parents had seen my stories being written between the pages of my middle school algebra book during classes, they’d have understood why it was necessary to hire a math tutor later.

Writing took a back seat to “real work,” however. My father was a second-generation grocer who raised his children with the understanding that work was a priority. My grocery career began at the age of seven when I earned money for a beautiful princess doll by pushing shopping carts back into their racks. I still remember when I finally placed my hard-earned doll in my Red-Flyer wagon and walked her home. I paused at every corner to admire her blue satin dress and glimmering tiara.

Pushing shopping carts led to bagging groceries, peeling onions, frying donuts and ringing up sales in the family business. In time, I managed one of our supermarkets and served as the Human Resource Director for up to 1,000 employees. At home, though, my hobby was writing. Few people ever saw my work but I knew, I was crafting my skill.

The lessons learned about productivity, training, and work ethics carried on for years as I applied these experiences in my adult life. Owning supermarkets overlapped with owning real estate, which evolved into owning a residential real estate investment company.

In spite of tremendous successes, along the way, sickness, divorce, death, financial loss and more wove their way into the road map of my life. I discovered that my own pain led to a passion for helping others who were hurting, too.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all! The more I learned about God’s healing from the pain of our past, the more compelled I felt to walk away from all business ventures and devote myself to ministry. This decision required a degree of courage and faith I didn’t really have. Finally, during the recession in late 2007 and 2008, we experienced a tremendous financial loss and decided to turn our backs on business and get the right attitude to serve God.

This commitment resulted in a move, for my husband and me, from San Antonio, Texas to the San Fernando Valley of California. Here, we have had remarkable experiences learning more about The Heart Healer and the tender way He restores the hearts of the hurting and gives hope to the hopeless.

From our quiet cottage tucked away in the Valley, I wrote The Heart Healer: God’s Response to Personal Prayer in a Hurting World and launched a new non-profit called, Vertical Hearts.

Author/Speaker – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Since publishing the book, numerous reviews have been received from readers who are now able to get past their past. Old wounds were healed, marriages restored, long-held grief replaced with peace and anxiety lifted. It’s been an amazing experience to be a part of this. Here are a few of the comments:

“This book is simply written – a quick, easy, powerful read. From ‘regular’ everyday people to first responders; it addresses trauma, heartbreak, and healing we ALL experience and need.” R. Hopkins, Los Angeles

“As an attorney, I thought I could just work my way through my grief over my mother’s death, but every December (the month she passed away), I would struggle with anxiety all over again. Finally, after reading through The Heart Healer and praying the prayer, this holiday season I actually had peace for the first time in thirty-two years.” L. Harshbarger, Montana

“My husband struggled with PTSD for many years. When he saw the changes in my life through reading The Heart Healer, he read my copy for himself. For the first time, he understands what it means to know God in a personal way and he has more peace than I have ever known him to have. Even the most stressful situations are handled calmly. ” S. Gac, Washington State

Now, I dedicate my time to telling others about The Heart Healer as I give presentations and workshops around the United States.

In response to readers’ requests, we have also written a compatible study guide for small groups. Publication is expected in April of 2018.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?

The proudest moment was when I began receiving feedback from readers whose lives were changed because of what they learned and experienced with God as they read The Heart Healer. Perhaps, I was more humbled than proud but those letters have fueled my passion to keep pressing forward with this message.
