Meet Curtis Rodgers of Shot By Curt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Curtis Rodgers.

Hi Curtis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well at this point, I guess we can start around 2021. When I first start shooting videos back in 2017, I wanted to make it official but didn’t feel I was ready. In 2021 I was almost ready to call it quits. The methods I was using pre-pandemic weren’t working to pull in new gigs and I didn’t know how to adjust or what to do. I started applying to regular jobs with hopes someone would email me but no one did. So the end of 2021 I decided I will officially form my own company and take it from there. Now in 2022 going into 2023, I have learned so much about operating a business and looking to expand over the coming months!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been far from smooth! Even in the midst of learning and fun projects. There were projects that weren’t fun. There were moments where I questioned if I was making the right decisions. There were times and still are times that I am at war with myself over some of my old habits that I am trying so hard to change that can make it difficult to keep a sustainable business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Shot By Curt LLC?
What do I do? I do a little of everything. But mainly I help small to medium size businesses and brands create content and to help them spread their message. In terms of what I am known for, I would probably have to say my eye. At least, that is what people say they like about my work when they reach out.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
“High risk, high reward” is the saying right? My biggest was in 2017 quitting a decent-paying job, buying my first camera and setting off on a journey I knew nothing about. But really in general, we only do this life thing one time as far as we know. So why not take some risk. A lot of the things we want and desire are on the other side of fear and taking a risk. I bet big on myself and it paid off.
