Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Haynes. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the struggles of being a hairstylist for a TV and Film are the long hours. Some of the struggles of creating the scalp soother were navigating the patent process and bringing the product to market.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Luxe Therapy?
The luxe therapy Scalp Soother is the tool I created for the hair industry… it is my baby. Is the special tool created to slide under hair weaves and hair extensions to safely relieve the itching caused by those hairstyles; it is also great for shampooing and scalp massage. When I thought to create it it was just to help my clients initially but it has grown and it is sold all over the US and stylists not only use it on their clients but they retail it to their clients as well. I’m very proud to be an inventor for creating a product that is very useful in the beauty industry. The product has been featured in Essence Magazine, hype hair magazine as well as the real daytime talk show by Loni Love.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice is someone starting out is to just start if you wait for things to be perfectly laid out, you will never begin. I had a lot of bumps in the road and I learned a lot along the way. I had no previous knowledge of product development or the patent process and I literally just bumped along until I learned it and accomplished it. I also have the support of a great mentor and business partner Yvette Shelton who is also a celebrity hairstylist in the industry.
