Meet Courtney Parchman of Average Fashion Blogger in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Parchman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Courtney. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Well, growing up I liked to make people laugh a lot and always loved entertaining others.

It wasn’t until I was in college and had changed my major six times that I finally realized it was really my only passion. That was when I made a promise to myself that I was going to move out to LA, once I finished college, and would pursue acting and comedy. Then in my junior year of college, I made a satire/comedy Instagram account called “Average Fashion Blogger.”

I made it in the middle of lunch while sitting with a bunch of my friends, just to make them laugh. I kept posting on it as a joke, but over time more and more people started following it. I just hit 100k followers on it today (yaaay) but I still post on it with the same intentions, and I try my best to keep it as genuine as possible!

I now live in Los Angeles and am pursuing acting, comedy, and writing, but Instagram has helped me break out in the entertainment industry in more ways than I could have ever imagined!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As far as being in Los Angeles, I would consider myself one of the luckiest people I know. Between my Instagram following and the connections it has brought me, it has all been pretty smooth.

However, before coming to Los Angeles, it did take me a while to be completely confident in my humor and not to let other peoples opinions and thoughts dictate my comedy.

Now, as things are progressing, I find myself struggling with feeling like I can live up to this image I have created for myself. But I know I am learning as I mess up, and I’m really excited to see how far I come in the next year.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am mostly known for my Instagram account- Average Fashion Blogger. It’s a satire/comedy account that puts a fun spin on being a typical “beauty blogger.” A lot of people also like to watch my stories on this account, where I show more of my personal life and get to make a lot of comedy content on there as well.

I am most proud of how genuine I have stayed the whole time. Every once in a while I find myself wanting to care more about likes and follows, but I always keep myself in check, and I remember why I started this account.

I believe too that that is what sets me apart from the others! I think its a place where people feel understood and normal, and the pressure of day-to-day life is taken off because everything is laughable!

What were you like growing up?
An animal!!!! I had uncontrollable ADD and loved being creative. I was insane, and had so much energy- I have specific memories of my mom making me run laps around my neighborhood because I was kind of like a puppy with the “zoomies” and would have too much energy to bottle in my body. I have always been very true to myself, while simultaneously caring a lot about what people think. Nothing has really changed.
