Meet Corrie Sullivan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corrie Sullivan.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m an Irish-born creator and artist, and the founder of Corrie in Color. I live in Los Angeles with my husband, Aaron, and three daughters, Sienna, Scarlett, and Indigo (yes, all colors). We initially left Ireland to spend a year exploring LA – 12 years later, we are still here. I have never not been creating. My love of texture and art has been within me from childhood, and led me to a degree in Textile Design and Art History, specializing in embroidery, from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland.

When we moved to LA, I discovered a world of creative possibilities, and I spent time exploring and connecting to other artists. I worked as a freelancer creating textile and embroideries for interiors. When I had my first daughter Sienna, I started a vintage kids clothes line called Homespun Vintage with my friend Kathlene. We traveled to design shows in NYC and sold our unique collections in boutiques in LA, and New York. After some time we both wanted to move on to something else creatively, and I started to create installations at my church and for friends weddings. That was the starting point for my business Corrie in Color., I now create art installations for events, brands, and interiors.

Please tell us about your art.
My business Corrie in Color is a Los Angeles based creative studio specializing in custom art installations that bring events and interiors to life. Through an experimental use of diverse materials, from fabric to finely cut paper, my work creates an environment that is a tangible, textural expression of the imagination. I aim to evoke joy, bring celebration, and foster positivity in the spaces that we experience daily, or perhaps only once in our lifetime. To inspire everyone to experience a moment – to experience life – in color.

I collaborate with brands by immersing myself in their vision, then magnifying it through my uniquely colorful expression. For permanent installations and one-day events alike, my work radiates happiness and is rooted in striking urban structural design, each enhancing a space to fully come alive.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Just take the brave step to reach out to someone you admire or a fellow artist. I have been so surprised with how many friends I have made via Instagram.

There are also some great community groups out there that offer a social space and places to connect. I have really enjoyed making friends via Quilt https://wearequilt.com and Liberty https://www.libertyforher.com/.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
The best place to find me is on Instagram, I keep it updated with all my current projects and work.

Currently, you can see my work at the Rose Wine Mansion in NYC, I have an art installation inspired by Chaco footwear at the Zappos headquarters in Las Vegas, and you can see my CD arch at The Lab Anti Mall in Costa Mesa California.
