Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Asch.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been in the beauty business for over 25 years. I’ve always been an artist. Pencil drawings being my favorite medium, so microblading was a natural progression for me. Microblading is a new technology in permanent makeup, so a lot of people don’t know what it is yet, but the news is spreading like wildfire across the beauty world. With microblading, we use a hand tool that allows us to create realistic hair strokes to the eyebrows using high quality pigments. With that, we are able to create the most beautiful and natural looking eyebrows. Even close up, in the sunlight they are undetectable. They last between 12 – 18 months. They are truly woman’s answer to the on-going eyebrow problem.
Most women have ruined their eyebrows by overplucking or waxing and often they never grow back. Those few of us who have escaped that fate will eventually have to deal with thinning eyebrows as we age, which contributes to looking older and faded. Microblading is the answer and women are flocking to it.
Has it been a smooth road?
I was naturally drawn to microblading because of my drawing background. There was always a flow and a natural road to microblading. When I had finished taking my first microblading course, I felt unprepared to take on a client. There were too many questions I had unanswered and the trainer I took the course from was not from this country and had moved on to the next country. I couldn’t afford another class at $3,000 so I looked for a book on microblading and found there were none.
I began to email every expert in our field and joined every Facebook group on the subject. I organized every topic in its correct order, from the consultation to naming the skin types and finally actually doing the procedure. As I’m doing the research I’m also writing a book and taking the students on my journey to becoming an expert. I study other people’s work and document everything. By the time I was done writing my book, I felt like an expert. There are other books on microblading now but The Microblading Bible by Corinne Asch has the most stars and has the most sales in the microblading category.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the The L.A.B. lash and brow story. Tell us more about the business.
Here at the L.A.B., Corinne uses the finest hand tools and the highest quality of pigments to ensure the quality of our designs. Microblading is Corinne’s specialty. She designs for each face for an individualized look.
Aside from making women feel good about themselves, she is most proud of her book on microblading, The Microblading Bible.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Since microblading is so new to the permanent makeup industry and has changed how we do eyebrows forever, I don’t foresee any more changes for the next 5-10 years but with technology moving so fast, one can never be too sure.
