Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Hall.
Corey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up on the East Side of South Central Los Angeles in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the United States. There, societal hopelessness seemed to be the norm – a generation locked in a vicious cycle of dejection and despondency, stuck in the lifestyle of what you see is what you get. What you see is the youth wearing self-afflicting designs, glorifying the toxic lifestyle of drugs, porn, weapons and violence. In return, what you get is drugs, sex and violence exploiting the lives of young and old. So, my assignment is to break this cycle and change the narrative of this lifestyle through Rooted Society.
In 2014, God gave me R.O.O.T.E.D., an acronym for Reign Over Obstacles Through Each Day. I trademarked it and came up with three designs to promote the brand.
In 2015, I sponsored the G-Town Royalty drill and drum squad, of Watts in the 2015 Martin Luther King Jr.,
Kingdom Day Parade.
In 2016, a silk-screen machine was donated to me, and I learned how to print my own t-shirts and work for others.
In 2017, I focused on establishing Rooted Society as a business by building a website, finding quality products, and pitching the brand.
In 2018, I launched the website and devised a business plan.
It’s 2019, I am currently working on ways to reach my target audience and execute the business plan.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles have been finding ways to reach my target audience. Also, its been very challenging for me to stay consistent with posting on the social media accounts.
Please tell us about Rooted Society.
Rooted Society has a mission and vision.
Mission: To launch mentorship programs across the United States.
Vision: To stimulate positivity in the genre of pop culture through the
mantra of ROOTED.
I am always looking for ways to positively impact a life. This includes volunteering as one of the youth pastors, passing out folders with useful information, and inspiring others to embrace the calling that is on their lives.
As a company, I am most proud of the progress we have taking since our existence. One of the things that set me apart is everything is done in-house. I design my own concepts/artwork, pick out the blanks, built the website, advertise, and manufacture each piece. And yes, I am seeking some assistance in each of those departments.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was learning my time tables up to 15’s at the tender age of eight.
