Meet Corentin Leroux of Silience

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corentin Leroux.

Corentin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in a small rural town in France named Bagnols. I moved to Toronto when I was ten where I developed my passion for filmmaking. Growing up, I was always very hands on crafting my projects – producing, shooting, editing, coloring, etc… I took this ambidextrous approach into film school at Chapman University. It enabled me to communicate and collaborate effectively with producers, production designers, DP’s, VFX artists, etc… After sophomore year, I got the chance to intern at Anonymous Content in the commercial/music video division where I started pitching on projects and designing decks. I began directing music videos independently for artists I admired including D’african and Bali Baby. Soon after, I was working with various artists who found me on Instagram. I created Silience with a friend to keep working independently while pursuing our passion.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Breaking into an oversaturated industry is tough. I try to innovate and advance my craft with every chance I get.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Silience – what should we know?
Silience is a full-service production company based in Los Angeles. We specialize in music videos but hope to move into the commercial and narrative space soon. What sets us apart is our extensive level of prep. We prep our music video shoots the same way we prep narrative films, which allows us to bring a certain attention to detail that usually goes unnoticed but adds an enormous amount to the quality of the videos.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The co-founder and COO of Silience, Matt Morello, played an integral role in the creation and success of our business. I’ve learnt a lot from older students at Chapman who brought me onto their sets.
