Today we’d like to introduce you to Coraline Gustave.
Hi Coraline, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in France in a small village, and I started doing hair when I was 14 and got licensed at 21. I always dreamed big, and very shortly after I got licensed, I started to work for the label Haute Coiffure Française, which is a teamwork of the best hairdressers in the world. Because of that, I was able to do a hair show and got the immense opportunity to have Jose Eber offer me a sponsor in his beautiful and high-end salon in Beverly Hills, California.
Since then, I created my own coloring technique called C-BALAYAGE and continue to grow in the field.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I always think that if your dreams are not scary it’s because they are not big enough. Being a hairstylist is not easy, but it’s the most beautiful job in the world. Being constantly learning, working with beautiful people.
I would say the most difficult part is every day to make sure I satisfy my client as being a huge perfectionist.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would start with the thing I’m the most proud of. I created my own color technique, which is in some way my baby. I created this technique because I wanted to reinvent in some way the classic highlights that every woman are getting by going to a hair salon. By creating this technique, I really build a clientele in Beverly Hills, and I would say in all the United States, people are coming across the country to get their hair done with me for this technique.
I also do a lot of men’s haircut. Which led me to get my Barbers license after my cosmetology license. I really wanted to add one more license to my baggage.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
When I was 18, I went to a hair show in France, and I met that lady called Laetitia. She is one of the members of the Haute Coiffure Francaise, and this lady changed my vision of hairstyling. We became friends, and it’s because of her I really believe that my career started. She inspired me so much, and I wanted to follow in her steps, today, it makes me so happy to see how proud of me she is. And obviously all my clients play a role in my carrier because they are the person for who I’m trying to be a better version of myself every day to give the best of myself every day and they are also the one who make my color technique that I created so successful.
