Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Bedard.
You know how impossible it seems to heal at times? How some people live in fear of never being able to heal their pain and end up relying on drugs and surgery to survive? Well, Peter has healed himself of everything from chronic anxiety to arthritis, asthma, fibromyalgia, depression, sciatica, and he’s died before and come back to a body wracked in pain, a mind trapped in fear, and a spirit broken. He’s healed from all this and more and he can help you to do the same.
Several years ago, Peter was slammed into the back of a parked semi-truck. He jumped out of his body just before the impact and watched as his body hit the truck and bounced out into the street. At that moment he knew he was dead. As he curiously watched his body noticing the broken bones he felt an incredible sense of love begin to fill him up. He wasn’t concerned about his crushed body and in a split second, he was hurtling down a spinning tube of white light that deposited him in Heaven, or someplace even better that was pure light and love.
Eventually, Peter met with a guide from the other side who told him he wasn’t supposed to be there and that he had to go back. In that moment all that love he had been filled up with was suddenly gone and it was replaced by anger. In the next second, he was once again floating above the accident scene and watching the paramedics pick up his body, load it into the ambulance, and watch it drive away. Peter knew his body had been severely damaged and he didn’t want to go back into it. Some time went by and his next memory was being back in his body and waking up in the hospital emergency room.
Peter lived the next several years in chronic pain not just in his body but in his heart. He felt that he had been kicked out of Heaven and in his misery he often thought about suicide but could never do it for fear that Heaven would reject him again. After much healing, physical, emotional, and spiritual, Peter has come to the understanding that it just wasn’t his time yet. He discovered that he could heal, even his broken heart and that the process of healing that Peter used in his recovery could be translated and shared with others and Convergence Healing was born. With an MA in Consciousness Studies and his extensive training in Hypnotherapy Peter has helped thousands of people heal.
Through his expertise working with anxiety, addiction, and pain (physical, emotional, spiritual) Peter has developed a tried and true process for creating your own path to wellness, Convergence Healing, and he can help you (www.ConvergenceHealing.com). With this understanding, he has created a thriving one-on-one private practice, workshops, and talks. He teaches around the world and he has an online healing tea store, Convergence Healing Teas, that is filled with delicious healing herbal blends that share the traditional healing qualities Mother Nature has for us through roots, barks, leaves, flowers, spices, herbs, and teas.
This is yet another way that Peter brings wellness to people. His lovingly crafted teas can be found at www.ConvergenceHealingTeas.com. You can also find Peter’s book, “Convergence Healing, Healing Pain with Energetic Love” published by Enliven Books/Simon & Schuster on Amazon, Kindle, Indie Bound, iBooks, etc. and at your neighborhood bookstore. Peter’s second book, “When Happiness is Work, A 30 Day Guide for Healing Depression and Creating Joy” will be out soon!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had to heal myself of all kinds of things that my doctors told me couldn’t be healed. I struggled for years and eventually stumbled into the world of holistic medicine and finally found relief. It took me a long time though as I didn’t have anyone like me to guide my way. In order to help people find their healing more quickly, I developed the convergence Healing process as well as the Create Your Health show with 60+ episodes featuring different healers, what they do, and how it works.
The “road” has been full of bumps and detours! When I was 39 my knee “popped” as I was walking from my garage to my front door. It was so loud that I heard the pop both inside and outside my body. When I had that first accident with the semi-truck the doctors at the time told me that I wouldn’t be able to walk again and that if I could I would have to have my knee replaced by the time I was 40 years old. I had spent years proving them wrong but the hypnotic suggestion that was made many years earlier by an authority figure at a time of high anxiety and stress while I was in survival mode had sunk in. My knee did exactly what the doctor told me it would. I knew that this wasn’t my truth though so I started to “talk” with my knee and ask it what it needed in order to heal.
I already understood that all wounding occurs at all levels of our existence so the conversation became very categorical. I understood that there was the physical part that needed to be healed but I added the mental and emotional/spiritual part of myself. That original wound broke my heart as I lost my intended career as a dancer. It also threw me into survival and panic on the mental level as I had no idea what my life would look like or how I would even survive no longer able to be who I was in life. This conversation recognized these levels and the questions I asked my knee went like this, “Knee – What do you need on the mental/thought level in order to heal?”
As I learned to listen to my body, my knee told me it needed to walk. The doctors told me not to walk, to elevate my leg, and to prepare for surgery. I decided to listen to my knee and I walked, more like hopped, with as much patience, love, and gentle kindness as I possibly could… and my knee started to get better. My knee eventually told me it needed me to think differently as all my thoughts were of fear and pain so I started to think of myself as walking effortlessly and letting go of any fear-based thoughts; basically, I learned to meditate. On the heart/spirit level, my knee told me to pull weeds. I thought this was ridiculous but I was willing so I went out to my garden and began to pull weeds. With one leg splayed out to the side while pulling weeds, I forgot my pain.
I had a wonderful childhood but for all of my adult life, there has been a cascade of illnesses and injury tumbling from one into the other. I would heal one issue and another would reveal itself. This has taught me deep compassion. Having crossed over to the other side and come back has taught me not to fear death, to even embrace it and recognize that death is something to look forward to and celebrate as a continuation of life. That primary accident taught me that we really do have free will and therefore accidents do and can happen. The following close to death experiences, of which there were four, taught me that we can check out anytime we like and that life is of our creation.
I finally understood the lyrics to that famous song, “Hotel California”; “You can check out anytime you like but you can never leave.” Above all, all these turns, twists, detours, and catastrophes taught me that we are eternal beings, that love is more powerful as an essence, as an energy, in the world. All this pain called me into being the best healer, teacher, speaker, tea seller, friend, husband, son, brother, etc. that I am today. It pushed me to my potential as it is doing even in this moment now!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Convergence Healing – what should we know?
Under the brand of Convergence Healing, I have three umbrellas.
1) The first is my private practice in which I act as a hypnotherapist, mentor, and spiritual coach. I help people take their life back from the pain of anxiety, depression, addiction, and abuse. My focus isn’t about making the presenting problem go away, it’s about teaching the ghost of the trauma that was creating the problem to find their way back home and to teach the brain a new experience.
2) As a speaker, workshop leader, and podcast host I strive to empower people to step into their greatest good, to live their highest potential, and not be afraid of their truth.
3) I wanted to find a way for people to bring healing into their life on a daily basis so I crafted a line of teas that are designed to help people feel better through the wisdom of Mother Nature. (Our teas are being shared in the 2018 Oscar nominee gift bags!)
What sets me apart from others: I’m a consultant at the Huberman Lab at Stanford University, my first book was self-published and then bought by Simon & Schuster and republished, I have an MA in Consciousness Studies, I’ve taught internationally, and I am the example of my work as I walk my talk.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I understand the pain of a broken body, a broken heart, and fractured mind. I’m deeply compassionate without indulging my client’s stories of pain and I have a no-nonsense approach with a spiritual and scientific understanding to healing.
