Meet Ciarra Krohne of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciarra Krohne

Ciarra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been acting since I was 6 years old. I was a very dramatic child who loved to role play along with the movies I fixated on. Eventually my parents got tired of playing with me and put me into acting classes. I got my professional start playing Tiny Tim in ‘A Christmas Carol’ at Indiana Repertory Theatre and have been doing theatre and film since. I moved out to LA 4 years ago to pursue acting full time and have acted for Netflix, Nickelodeon, and A24 since then! I most recently co-wrote with Erin Brown Thomas, produced, and acted in Chasers, a 30 minute oner that will be premiering in Film Festivals this year.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve dealt with a lot of challenges I have had to overcome along the way. This industry is difficult because it is a lot of marketing and networking, something that is not the easiest for me. I am very creative minded, but not naturally business minded. It has definitely taught me a lot and helped me to grow my skills. I had to learn how to keep up in the business while keeping my passion and artistic integrity. I am also getting my masters degree in Cybersecurity on the side for support, so that has been exciting but tedious.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Chasers is a 30 minute short film and tv pilot that I co-wrote with my friend Erin Brown Thomas, produced, and acted in last winter. It will be premiering at Sundance Film Festival this year, which is incredibly exciting. I feel really lucky to be able to share it, especially since the project means so much to me. It takes you through the journey of Sophia, who I play, over the course of a night through an LA house party as she tries to make it official with her situationship, Jacob. Writing Chasers was a deeply personal project for me, inspired by the relationship experiences I and my friends were navigating at the time. The character of Jacob represents the ghosts of all the romantic relationships, and creating him proved to be incredibly therapeutic. In many ways, Chasers serves as my love letter to the women in my life who have endured trauma and heartbreak. The shoot for Chasers was difficult because it was done as a one shot with no cuts. If something in the scene wasn’t perfect, we had to restart from the beginning. Not to mention it was four night shoots from 5pm to 6am! It was the most challenging project I’ve ever acted in, but it was worth it.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
