Meet Christobal Ortiz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christobal Ortiz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Christobal. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
My journey starts ten years ago with wanting to be an MMA fighter. Ended up in a boxing gym and went from 200 lbs to 155 through exercise and a goal. Along the way, I’ve learned about dedication, discipline, endurement, sacrifice, glory, and loss. I am now an undefeated fighter getting ready for another bout Feb 16, alongside being a coach for boxing at UFC Torrance, and launching my sports brand Built 2 Last.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles have been finding the right coach, people not believing in my visión, starting to fight professionally at an older age, sacrifice from family, from kids, a ruptured bicep while prepping for a fight, canceled bouts, and having to work while doing this all.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a professional boxer/coach, and I am trying to embody my journey and inability to give up on something you believe in through my brand Built 2 Last. I am known to inspire and motivate others to become better versions of themselves and for empowering women through boxing and weightlifting. What separates me from the rest is that I am nowhere near finished with my goals but am able to give others the confidence to believe in me as I do in myself!!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite childhood memories is when coach la Rosa told me that I am a “diamond in the rough” after writing him a letter to give me an opportunity to play football.
