Meet Christine Comina of Q Handmade in Westlake Village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Comina.

Christine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a native SoCal girl who loves adventuring with my boys, Tanner & Beckett. Before becoming a mom and founding Q Handmade, I worked in television as a camera operator, traveling all over the world shooting reality shows. Q Handmade was born in my living room shortly after my first son was born about 10 years ago. While he was napping, I was stamping.

Since then, Q Handmade has been named one of the top celebrity style must-haves by UsWeekly.com, adorning many celebrity’s necks, making prime-time television & gracing the pages of US Weekly, In Touch Magazine, and more.

What I love is that each piece tells a story; whether it’s names, a phrase, bible verse or dates…it’s inspiring. I have been honored to be a part of proposals, weddings, TV shows, births and passings. I am grateful for the moments I get to chronicle through my jewelry.

When I’m not taking care of my kids or in the workshop, I shoot still photography (qhandmadephotography.com) for lifestyle blogs, families & more. I also teach jewelry-making workshops, do pop up trunk shows. In my free time I love to play guitar & catch the occasional wave.

I’m incredibly thankful because Q Handmade lets me do what I do best– be a modern, working mama.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The community and my clients have embraced my work–which has been huge!! Most Q Handmade’s business is word of mouth so the jewelry speaks for itself. I would say the hardest part of this journey has been balancing being a single mom and running my own business. The beauty in it, though, is that working for myself has allowed me to raise my boys, for which I will be forever grateful.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Q Handmade – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
While there are other hand-stamped companies out there, Q Handmade has been embraced by our customers and the community as a high-quality, unique product. I consider each piece artwork. Each piece is made with love and integrity.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I would like to expand to the retail market in 2018. I would like bring our hand-made, hand-crafted jewelry into boutiques and possibly department stores. The art of hand-made jewelry is dwindling while there is still a high demand for high-quality, hand-crafted products.
