Meet Bina Murphy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bina Murphy.

Bina began her career at UCLA’s Interior Architecture program. Shortly after enrolling in the program, Bina landed an internship with World renowned Designer, Lonni Paul. After three months with Lonni, Bina received an offer to join the talented team at Waterleaf Interiors in Manhattan Beach, where she spent four years expanding her palette as a Design Assistant. After notable accomplishments and building upon her relationships in the South Bay, the right opportunity with a prominent LA family came at just the right time for Bina to expand and create her own firm, Bina Murphy Interiors.

Bina has redefined modern notions of classic and sophisticated design. From unique coastal spaces to luxury private residences, Bina has planted her seed from the Bay Area to the South Bay of California. Bina bases her work in the study of all things simple, functional and clean. She firmly believes that each client’s home should reflect their personal style – their soul, passions, and quirks should be woven into every detail.

An Oregon girl who brought her classic palette and modern vision to the laid back coastal walk streets of Manhattan Beach, Bina’s abstract and layered approach to California Modern style is truly inspired by the natural beauty of her home state combined with her infinite curiosity to explore cultures and tastes that transcend borders.

Expanding upon her technical skills at UCLA’s Professional Level Interior Architecture program, she parlayed her love of architecture, fashion, and artistic expression into home design and quickly converted several of LA’s most familiar household names into lifelong clients. She has attracted clients from a wide variety of industries including sports, fashion, film, music and health professionals.

A lover of color with an affinity for refined casual luxury; effortless sophistication, unwavering elegance, and classically tailored details are intricately woven into the fabric of Bina’s designs, creating a home reflecting your personal expression. Most notably, Bina has always admired the way the English dress their home – super stylish with eccentric flourishes throughout.

She wanted to translate that kind of inspiration into her day-to-day personal and professional style and taste. Bina believes its always important for your space to be an easy place to entertain and a cozy nest to return to after a long day. A place for a life well lived. Your home, uniquely yours!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Anything great takes time and patience to build. Bina took time to focus on building and developing her brand over the years before she launched her own firm. That way, when it came the time she was ready to expand on her own and knew exactly what the brand meant. She worked hard on her own managing everything from the books to the clients to social media marketing because she knew she had to in order to really understand all aspects of the business and what it means to be successful. After two years of full court press, Bina decided to build a team around her that she truly can rely on and trust day in and day out.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Bina Murphy Interiors is a full-service boutique Interior Design firm based in Manhattan Beach, Calif. Bina Specializes in Residential Interiors and architecture. She’s not afraid of any challenge, so she rarely shy away from any project that comes her way. The best thing about Bina that sets her apart from the rest is she doesn’t focus on just one style. She’s a chameleon who adapts to her clientele and their way of life.

Bina is most proud of the fact that she took a chance on herself at 28 years old to flip a 10,000 sq ft. home and start a business all at once, when most people wouldn’t know how to manage the task. She prayed and prayed for the best outcome and sure enough, one project turned into two, two into three. Bina was on her way to her fulfilling her dream…

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Bina believes you create your own luck. Yes, there are going to be challenges that come up, but it’s turning those into opportunities for creative design solutions. That whole notion of Fake it till You Make it is true because it forces you to dig in and expand your knowledge and creativity, thus proving to yourself that you deserve to be where you are. Confidence is everything in business, and if you don’t have it, you don’t.
