Meet Christian & Thomas of Long Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian & Thomas.

Hi Christian & Thomas, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thomas and I used to work at the same firm, and after a while we realized how well we worked together. He’s amazing with architectural details, plans, and layouts, while I’ve always had a strong eye for color, texture, and the creative side of design. We naturally balanced each other out, so teaming up just made sense.
After some time, we both started to feel limited in how much creativity we could express where we were. We wanted the freedom to create without boundaries—to design spaces that truly reflected our clients as individuals, not just what’s trending. That’s how KrimsonHAUS was born. The name itself represents limitless creativity and individuality.
Thomas grew up in Sarasota, Florida, and I’m from Los Angeles—specifically the San Fernando Valley. We started small, working from our apartments, and now we’ve grown into a studio with two additional team members (and counting!). It’s been incredible watching both our team and our work evolve.
Neither of us imagined we’d be here when we were younger. Like anyone building something from scratch, we’ve faced our share of challenges and growing pains, but every hurdle has pushed us to be better. Thomas studied interior design at Ringling College of Art and Design, and I learned through experience—starting out doing admin work for another designer and soaking up everything I could.
What I love most about what we do now is that we get to be fully creative. Each client inspires us in a different way, and that inspiration shapes everything we create.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is it ever really smooth? Starting a business definitely isn’t for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and patience, but the results are always worth it.

In the beginning we were learning everything at once, how to actually run a business, manage clients, handle marketing, and get our website up all while staying on top of projects. We took off pretty quickly because we already had strong relationships with clients, but that also meant we were juggling a lot before we even had the foundation of the business fully set up.

Another big challenge has been finding the right people to join our team. It’s easy to say “just hire help,” but the truth is, employees are such a big part of a company’s culture and identity. Finding people who not only have the right skills but also share our vision and are willing to grow with us isn’t easy.

Partnerships in business also come with their own learning curve. Creating together is amazing, and the results can be something neither of us could have achieved alone, but it definitely takes time to understand each other’s language and communication style. Learning how to clearly express ideas and align our visions has been both challenging and rewarding.

I think as business owners we’ll always be facing new hurdles. But every time the finish line feels farther away, we try to pause and look back at how far we’ve already come. That perspective keeps us going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Thomas and I both work within our strengths. Thomas is incredibly creative and meticulous when it comes to space planning and architectural details. He brings in molding elements, lighting concepts, and ways to highlight the features that make a home special. I (Christian) thrives in color and texture, understanding how those elements come together harmoniously to create emotion and personality within a space.
Our clients are truly our biggest inspiration, and I mean that wholeheartedly. I’ve always had a good sense of people—their energy, how they express themselves, and what makes them feel comfortable and that really helps us uncover their personal style. We’ll ask questions like, “What’s your favorite restaurant or hotel you’ve been to?” You’d be surprised how much that reveals about what they love and how they want to live.
We see the entire process as a collaboration between our clients and us. Thomas and I usually start by sketching our ideas and pulling inspirational images that capture the overall aesthetic and mood. Once that vision is aligned, we move into the functional aspects, layouts, flow, and how the space will actually live day-to-day. From there, we dive into material selections, focusing on elements that engage the senses through touch, texture, and feeling.
All of that comes together in what we like to call our 3D artistic interpretation of each client’s story and lifestyle. Every project ends up being completely unique because it’s rooted in who our clients are—not in trends or what’s “in” at the moment. That’s something we’re really proud of.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I know they say starting a business isn’t for the faint of heart, and in some ways that’s true. It takes a lot of consistency, effort, and patience. But if you’re passionate about the service you want to provide, and it’s something you’re really good at, I say go for it.

The unknown can be intimidating because there’s no right manual for running a business. That said, the great thing about the time we’re in now is that you can find really good answers and resources online—but you also have to recognize that every business is unique. What works for one might not work for another, especially if what you’re offering is unique.

You’ll get a lot of “no’s” along the way, but the “yes’s” are what make it all worth it. You just have to know your market really well, understand your “why”—why you’re doing what you’re doing—and define who your ideal client is. Hone in on that, stay persistent, and trust the process.
