Meet Chris Turk of CLD PR in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Turk.

Chris, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a child growing up in New Jersey, I always have had a love for fashion since the day I was born and my mother opened her clothing store. I eventually attended Marist College and majored in Art Studio with a concentration in Graphic Design and a minor in Fashion Merchandising and Photography. Immediately after college, I decided to move to New York City and tried to find my place in the fashion industry.

From commercial modeling to merchandising, to sales, nothing really seemed to hit home. I really loved being hands-on and creative and couldn’t find a position that I really loved, so I decided to pursue them all. Once I worked for Shiraz events, I realized I loved the combination of fashion and events so I thought maybe that was the right direction for me to lean towards. My next step was working for a fashion house that specialized in bridal, ready-to-wear and evening gowns.

While there I was, in charge of their social media, celebrity placements, events and even had a hand in design. After seven and a half years in New York City, I realized that I wasn’t happy and decided it was time to try something different. As years passed, people went from saying I was such a city guy to saying I would be perfect in LA. Since I had ever been to LA, I decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about. Last November, I finally visited LA for the first time.

Upon landing, I knew this was the place for me and decided to move two months later. A month after moving to LA, I was lucky enough to get a position at CLD as a Senior Account Manager in Bridal and Eveningwear and led the company to multiple successful events including bridal fashion week shows(Berta and Rita Vineris being our biggest), fashion shoots, and an incredible event at Catch for White Fox Swim.

Along with events, I was able to garner placements in top magazines including Vogue, Brides, The Knot, Nylon, WWD, and many others. Being recognized for my achievements, I worked my way to being Media Director and I couldn’t have been more humbled for being recognized for my hard work.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been anything but a smooth road to get here. When it came to my career, I knew I loved fashion but I just couldn’t figure out where I fit. If I have to give any advice, it’s… try everything! I didn’t give up, as much as I wanted to do on some days, and pushed my hardest to figure it out. After many doors shutting in my face and hitting many setbacks, I can finally say I found my place in the fashion industry.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with CLD PR – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I currently am the Media Director for CLD PR. CLD PR works with high-level celebrity and media placements for current and past clients such as Sydney Evan, Rita Vinieris, Berta, White Fox, Enfants Riches Deprimes, JETS, Nookie, Stello and more.

CLD PR is a full-service PR Agency with extensive experience in overall brand development, PR, communications, celebrity placement, media placement, influencer relations, events, social media, branding, and all other PR-related disciplines. Our client categories cover a vast array, including everything from luxury to contemporary, bridal, swim & sport, lifestyle, fine jewelry, accessories, and many more specialties. We are versatile, agile and aggressive when it comes to tackling all strategic initiatives and undertakings which lead to overall brand elevation and amplification.

I think I am most proud of the hard work I have put in to garner successful placements and over the top events and runway shows that impressed every editor and influencer that attended. What sets us apart from the others is our heart, we put our heart and our soul into helping our companies take it to the next level and became a well-known brand in the fashion industry.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like best about our city is the beautiful weather, of course. I love that year round the weather is sunny and warm, always helping me start the day on a positive note. The warm weather allows me to enjoy going out seeing the sites, trying different foods and enjoying the amazing people surrounding me.

What I like the least is probably the lack of train transportation. As someone that lived in New York for so long, so many areas became so accessible because of the subways. I have heard though that with the Olympics coming here, they are expanding transportation which is great!
