Meet Chris Jane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Jane.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Music and acting have always been my passion. As a young girl growing up in a very musical household, I knew from about eight years old that I wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

I got involved in every choir and drama class that I could. My first studio session was in 10th-grade high school and I fell completely in love with recording. After that, I just did everything I could to try to get into the industry. I did American Idol ( made it to the Hollywood round) Was in a few girl groups, that didn’t last too long but taught me a lot in a short period of time. And was also in a wedding band for three years.

All of that gave me what I feel was a great experience to pursue my new solo career. Currently, I’m working on a new EP and focusing on a few passion projects as well as writing a new book and screenplay.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it has not been smooth at all. I don’t know if anyone’s journey is ever really smooth haha. But I feel that when you love something, you just roll with the punches and keep going.

I’ve had a lot of struggles such as producer/bandmate fall outs, sexual harassment, relocating to different cities and having to find new people to work with over and over. And even my own personal struggles with anxiety and depression.

2018 was probably my craziest year though because I had to overcome a health struggle. After being involved in a carjacking /kidnapping incident by three guys with guns to my head, injuries from what I thought were caused during the incident led me to discover I actually had a tumor in my head. I had to get a surgery to remove it. I was so blessed to make it through and be able to recover the way that I did. Definitely made me more thankful for my life and helped me discover a new type of self-love for myself. So even though it was a struggle, it was one of the most pivotal moments of my life. Showing me just how much God was on my side in both the carjacking incident and being hospitalized and going through such a major surgery.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I love being an artist and just being a creative person in general. I honestly can’t picture my life any other way. I feel proud that I’ve been able to stay focused on doing what I love and not what people tell me to do. I think at the end of the day you really have to make sure you’re doing what you feel in your heart and soul. The art we make in this life is a legacy we will leave behind. So I always think about that when I’m creating something new.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
It sounds cliche but I honestly think happiness is a success. And by that I mean when you can wake up in the morning with a smile on your face and truly love who you are. When you can realize that we live in the now and be thankful for each moment no matter what is going on. Sometimes in life, we forget what a blessing it is to be living and breathing and how many other people are fighting for their life. I believe if you can have gratitude and be thankful for everything you’re experiencing, it makes it easier to stay focused and achieve your goals.
