Meet Chris Camire of Lavey Craft Motorsports in Corona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Camire.

Chris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
To give a brief history on the company, Lavey Craft Boats has been in business since 1952 and was founded by Alex Lavey, hence the name Lavey Craft. Ever since my younger teenage working age, I spent most of those years working at various boat shops learning everything I could in every aspect of boat building. In November 1991, my brother and I decided to purchase Lavey Craft, and the rest is history. We went on for the next 24 years building top of the line custom powerboats ranging from 21′-39′ in all different styles with a total of 11 different models. In 2013, I noticed a demand for high quality fiberglass parts in the Side By Side UTV market for the Polaris RZR so we decided to expand in to the offered market. In 2015 my partner retired and I continued on with the company. I changed the company name to Lavey Craft Motorsports due to the fact that building boats isn’t the only thing we do.

Has it been a smooth road?
Such as most small companies, it has not always been a smooth road. The biggest “speed bump” was during the economical downfall.

During that time, boat sales took a huge hit. This forced us to open our eyes and see what else we can do with the set of skills everyone in the company has to offer. Boating season is primarily during the summer but we realized that most of those people also like to off-road during the winter. Then it hit me, we need to expand the company to provide our current and new customers for their winter off-road passions! We now build boats and off-road fiberglass parts year round.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lavey Craft Motorsports story. Tell us more about the business.
Since the inception of Lavey Craft in 1952 by founder Al Lavey (1926-2015), we have been known for our customer service, attention to details, superior quality, stunning gelcoat schemes, pristine rigging and installation, as well as plush ergonomics. At Lavey Craft, safe family boating is our number one priority, although we also add performance and speed to that list when catering to racing enthusiasts.

Lavey Craft is the oldest and longest running performance boat company open to this day. Performance boats is definitely our specialty but our offered products receive the exact care and attention to detail. If I had to choose what we are best known for, it would have to be our customer service on all levels. When you purchase a new or pre-owned Lavey Craft, you automatically become part of a very large, and select, family of boaters who appreciate quality, value and performance. Every single person who walks through our doors will be treated with the utmost respect and care from all of our staff in order to make their time easy and assist them in creating anything they desire.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The boating industry is always changing weather it be the style of boat, engine packages, and size. The biggest trend and change that I see in the next 5-10 years for this industry has already started. Easiest way to put it is “bang for your buck”. The best way to go fast, save fuel, keep all the creature comforts, and have a 2-5 year warranty on your engine is with the Mercury 400r outboard engine. That is exactly what people are shooting for now and I see that type of trend sticking around for quite a while.
