Meet Cherokee Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherokee Jackson.

Hi Cherokee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started pinup modeling in the myspace days and started amassing a following. Then in 2012, I started a youtube channel and Cherry Dollface really blew up. I took my videos on the road and for seven years, I traveled all over the world full time teaching vintage hair and makeup classes and doing hair and makeup for pinup photoshoots. After doing that full-time for so long, I was tired and needed to figure out a plan to be able to work full time from home while still being creative. My real passion has always been skin, so I got my esthetics license and opened up my own studio in Glendale in the middle of the pandemic. It was terrifying but so worth it to be home doing what I love. I now also provide cosmetic tattoo services because my second love is makeup and I missed doing brow and liner– so why not learn to do them permanently, right? I just love helping women from all walks of life feel confident and beautiful and I love that that means something different for everyone.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have definitely hit bumps. Traveling full time while still trying to have a personal life is really hard. I lost several family members on my years abroad where I couldn’t get home to join my family in mourning. I got divorced. I lost friendships and watched other friendships change. It was also intensely hard to open a business that involves your clients not wearing masks during a global pandemic. But I have the most awesome and loyal clients and followers and I have been really lucky.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I think the personal connection I have with my clients sets me apart. I pride myself in getting to know my clients and making them feel comfortable to open up if they feel they want to. A lot of my client’s joke that my services also include therapy! I also love making my clients feel relaxed and beautiful. Life is so stressful– especially these days– and I love that my room is a little haven away from the outside world where clients can get some quiet and let me melt their stress away. I would say I have a dual specialty in facials and also permanent makeup– but I do also offer vintage glam services for shoots or special occasions.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I also have a vintage store online and a cookbook! I get bored easily so I am always keeping myself busy. 🙂

Shop is cherrydollfacevintage on Etsy. Cookbook is called Dollface Kitchen.
