Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherie Steinberg & Hedley Jones.
Cherie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been a photographer for a very long time and always shot pretty girls and many times did nudes for them! I really started out many years ago doing different kinds of photography like weddings, fashion and portraits. My wedding photography brand, Cheriefoto was going very strong for years and then all of a sudden woman were asking me to do boudoir shoots for them as a gift for their husbands on their wedding night. This opened up a whole new world and The Boudoir Cafe was born. I made a new website to show off our boudoir photography and never looked back. We started booking lots of those shoots and it became clear that we had a real love of doing that kind of photography for women. It was very sweet, and a service that felt really good to help women feel amazing about themselves! It became a joy to shoot girls in lingerie and in the nude and make these iconic images for them to have for a lifetime. Today my husband and I shoot together for the Boudoir Cafe and that is cool because a man and a woman shooting at the same time is unique. The lighting is a big part of what we do and contributes greatly our look and we have spent years perfecting lighting techniques and coming up with what will make our girls of any shape or size look and feel very beautiful and sexy!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The challenge is to come up with new and exciting images for clients and our goal is to put iconic images on their wall!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Boudoir Cafe – what should we know?
Well like I said we specialize in Boudoir Photography, and have become well known for it. We have a few international high end clientele and we do destination boudoir shoots. We have shot in Paris and Venice and locations all over the USA and Canada where we are from…we also have done several talks for Nikon USA for the past ten years and they use our images for their magazines and print media.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband and partner Hedley Jones who shoots side by side with me and which allows us to have two different perspectives at the same time as we shoot with different lenses…Nikon has been a huge contributor, and they continue to buy our images and the WPPI convention where me and Hedley have been speakers for the past fourteen years!
And all the people on my team like makeup and hair adds to the mix.
