Meet Chef Penny Davidi Borsuk of Penny’s Pantry in Bel Air

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chef Penny Davidi Borsuk.

Chef Penny, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I practiced Oriental medicine for 12 years and into thousand and two I got a divorce after being married for ten years with two kids five-year-old two-year-old daughters I had to reinvent myself and figure out how to put food on the table and maintain a certain level of lifestyle that my kids were used to so I spend a lot of time creating and duplicating dishes that they were used to eating and really making it fun to be in the kitchen. During that time, I took several trips to South Beach Florida and fell in love with the concept of Pizza Rustica in Miami in 2004, I opened up my first Pizza Rustica location in Beverly Hills California. The concept of the brand took off and shortly after I had multiple locations with the deal in place with Landmark Theatre‘s and Mark Cuban into thousand and eight. I sold the business and decided to dabble in real estate shortly after I said I would give myself one year to get onto the Food Network and I dead now I’m not on here or Food Network star in 2011 and became the most notorious character in the history of the Food Network and the villain of the Food Network I rode the window for almost 9 years which shows still airing on the Food Network about 16 to be exact between Food Network bravo Paramount etc. In 2012 I took a position with US FOODS in Los Angeles California in 2017, I joined Sysco foods. Currently creating some amazing shows and opportunities for TV and more fun things to come. In 2014, I opened Pump with Lisa Vanderpump and Tomtom in 2018.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been smooth sailing at all! Getting into the food industry without no food knowledge culinary training was not an easy task and then read to follow that up with no experience on television and taking on some of the biggest shops in the world is quite challenging Opening up my home my heart and my family the world through media is always taking a risk.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Penny’s Pantry story. Tell us more about the business.
What are you dead out as a consultant and I help with everything from the front of the house and running your operation to the back of the house price utilize ingredients developing new recipes doing the research and development companies taking on sponsors and bringing them visibility and making them more mainstream and of course last but not least building as much television on social media content as possible.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have been extremely likely in that I am the first and only Iranian American businesswoman with no previous training food and restaurants to really be able to attend the front of millions of people around the world and make a name for myself.
