Meet Charles Neal of Charles Neal Interiors in Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Neal.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been very creative even as a little child. I started off by making hair bows for girls which I would sell to the children at my elementary school. Later on in life I started to focus on being an entrepreneur and starting my own businesses. I sold vacuum cleaners, owned a car lot, and then I ran a printing company. I had departed from my creative and artistic roots but always strived to get back in touch with that special part of me. In 2007, I decided to pursue my true dream of interior design. I kind of put the cart before the horse and opened a furniture resale store in Roswell, Ga. One slow weekday in October, I had this beautiful customer stroll in and she was just roaming around my store and singing while she browsed. Little did I know at the time that it was Nicki Minaj (she had not yet hit it really big). She fell in love with my store and style and asked me to design her penthouse in Atlanta. From that point on, I knew that interior design was my passion and calling. Lately, I have been focusing on large interior and residential projects as well as furniture design for some of the top brands in the industry. By the end of 2017, I am hoping to launch my very own furniture line, so keep your eyes out for that. It’s going to be very fun, sexy, and unique.

Has it been a smooth road?
The most pressing challenge in most of my projects is setting realistic deadlines. Most elements in my designs are custom made so they take quite a bit of time and detail to make them perfect and then to execute them flawlessly. It is important that I relay to the client that in order for their home to be exactly as they desire, it will require a dash of patience and trust in the process.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Charles Neal Interiors story. Tell us more about the business.
I have a pretty specific style that features baroque modern and transitional elements. Most would categorize my designs as ‘over the top’. I say they are fabulously tailored to perfection. Though I am known for that glamorous and whimsical genre, I have appreciation for many different styles in which I have made many designs for such as rustic/vintage, modern, and traditional.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself transitioning more into the product design and development field for home furnishings. I really want to provide beautiful products for more than just my clients and their personal projects.
