Meet Chante Gaspard of WestCoast Wingz & Sliderz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chante Gaspard.

Hi Chante, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My father was a chef and ran a successful catering business alongside his wife called Southern Hospitality in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, California. He had a passion for delivering the best quality food and hospitality to his clients. As a child, I would often work with him on certain events. Over the years, I developed a love for seeing the joy that quality food and service could bring to people in the community. My father is no longer with us, but we are both still connected through our passion for good-tasting food and exceptional service. So many vivid memories are relived whenever I prepare some of my father’s favorite dishes for my son.

We started West Coast Wingz & Sliderz with the goal of bringing joy to people in our community through food and service. Our mission at West Coast Wingz & Sliderz is to provide our customers with the best-tasting chicken wingz and slidersz in the area. We want to create an atmosphere where people can enjoy quality food and outstanding service at an affordable price. Our menu consists of a variety of flavors, options, and ingredients that are sure to please every palate. Our goal is to bring our customers an unforgettable culinary experience every time they dine with us. This community is special to me. My son was born in this community, and my father started his business many years ago in this community. We are grateful to have this opportunity to share our passion and story with you.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obviously, nothing has been easy. We started out doing pop-up events all over the city of Los Angeles. We tested many flavors and options until we found our niche. During our testing stage, we learned what people like and don’t like. We spent many evenings outside in the cold, serving people and listening to their critiques. After much hard work and many long nights, we became focused on our craft. Our struggle has been to spread the word to the entire city of Los Angeles.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are the only black-owned restaurant located in the food court of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall. We specialize in unique and fun flavors of sauces for our delicious chicken Wingz. We are also own for our New Orleans-themed Shrimp and Catfish Sliderz made with our special WestCoast sauce and cooked fresh to order. What sets us apart from others is both our exceptional service, going above and beyond to satisfy our customer’s palette and our unique sauces and flavors which we make ourselves. We are most proud of the fact that our food is always made fresh, cooked to order so that the customers always receive a hot plate of delicious food. We are open seven days a week, offer senior and service worker discounts and love to serve our community. We offer samples and customer rewards program for frequent diners.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories are my dad waking me up each morning and cooking banana pancakes for me. I can still taste the sweetness of those pancakes when I close my eyes and think about my dad. He loved to cook for me.
