Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Minnifield.
Chanel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, and I moved to California as soon as I graduated from the University of Louisville to pursue acting. I was very blessed to have hit the ground running with my career once I got to LA. I landed all of my representation and booked a national commercial right out of the gate. I have appeared on many TV shows including General Hospital and Jane the Virgin, and I am so excited for my latest role as the energetic and empathetic veterinarian, Dr. Williams, who takes care of Allan in the movie “Allan The Dog,” which premiered June. 26th on all Video on Demand streaming platforms including satellite and cable, such as Amazon, iTunes/Apple TV, DirectTV, Dish, AT&T, Comcast, Spectrum, Google Play, YouTube Movies… and a lot more to rent or to own! This was such a fun project to work on with Director by Barry Murphey and working alongside talented actors such as Sam Daly from the Office, Gwen Hollander, Steve Wright (The voice of Allan and writer of the film), the iconic Steven Weber and Tomas Boykin- it was so much fun and such an amazing experience!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have been blessed to have amazing people in my corner from my managers at Impact Artist Group and my family who have helped me push through the dry patches with a smile and to also live deeply and relish in the greater moments throughout my career. Every journey has its ups and downs, it will never be a smooth road to success– and honestly if it came too easy without hardwork and real dedication, I don’t think I would want it. I have gone two years without booking a thing before and not working at all to some years its non-stop bookings. You know, I have learned even when times are dry there are still many small victories you’re winning that you have to take note of and congratulate yourself on– so I stay in the mindset of always looking for those little victories from killing an audition even if I don’t get the part to killing a scene in class that took me weeks to work on! All of those small victories lead up to memorable moments and big “public” victories like booking this role in this movie, Allan the Dog!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I wouldn’t do anything differently! I am a big believer in knowing you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be always!
