Today we’d like to introduce you to Monique Cooper.
Monique, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been pursuing an acting career in LA for many years. I have booked a few small roles so far and I used to work as a glamor/ boudoir model. I love the art of taking photos it is a creative, fun outlet for me. In 2015 I produced and directed and acted in my first short film “9pm” it made me realize I can have fun and be creative behind the camera as well. Last year I bought a camera as a Christmas present to myself and wanted to see how I liked taking pictures of other people. I made a casting call on LA casting and went at it. I love capturing other people and letting them see themselves through my eyes. It is a lot of fun for me and I love learning something new each shoot.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all.. Especially with my acting career. I admit I get depressed and discouraged often but I try to be positive and optimistic. This year has been a journey for me .. LA can really be tough on your soul. I have been focused on healing and getting more comfortable with myself this year and had the pleasure of shooting beautiful souls all around the world with my travels. I am still learning and working toward my goals.
Do you feel luck has played a role in your life?
I consider myself lucky! Probably not the luckiest person in my career as of right now but I feel when it’s supposed to happen it will. But I am lucky to healthy, happy, traveling the world, meeting nice people and have all the options to follow my dream. I don’t live an ordinary life and sometimes it feels chaotic but I do love it.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Persistence, patience, and positive mindset.
What do you love about our city and what do you dislike?
I love that anything you want you can most likely find in LA. I love that lots of creative people live here. Great weather, lots of healthy food and lifestyle options, lots of work opportunities, beaches
I can do without the traffic.
