Meet Celine Esquivel of San Dimas Cake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celine Esquivel.

San Dimas Cake Co. was inspired and developed by Celine and her high school-aged daughter. While Celine has a talent for design and artistry, her daughter has a hand for baking. “Baking is what we do best! At first, baking was a hobby and a time for bonding. We would share our little creations with our friends and family. As time went on we would get calls for birthdays and other events.

We were baking so much!” Celine then decided to go full force and turn the shared hobby into a business. She came up with Mi Dolce Vita Cupcakery (meaning My Sweet Life) from the Italian quote, “Mi Bella Vita.” After 3 years of hard work, Celine opened her first location in San Dimas. It wasn’t long before she outgrew her store and opened a full-service bakery only a year and a half later.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was hardly a smooth road. We went through hurdles!! And just as soon as you think you’re in smooth waters the storm comes. We have definitely overcome our struggles though. When we opened our first store, we commuted our products daily because we didn’t have a kitchen. Our space was just too small (300sqf) or so. Imagine commuting a 4 tier cake… stressful. Just call me “Cake Zilla”.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about San Dimas Cake Co – what should we know?
San Dimas Cake is one of the only scratch bakeries within a 10-mile radius. We only use the best quality ingredients and freshness is a must! We offer tons, over 30 different flavors of cakes. We are most known for our quality and creative art we put into our cakes. When you come to our store you will defiantly be treated like your part of the family.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I owe all gratitude and glory to Jesus first. My husband has been my biggest supporter. He put up with the struggle to get me to where I am. Then, my mother, she has never let me down even after the 8 times I’ve FIRED her!!😂😂 My kids I can’t forget. I just hope at the end of the road they are proud of what their parents have built.
