Today we’d like to introduce you to CeeJay ViLL.
CeeJay, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2015, I started making music for fun and to make songs I can play while I’m smoking in the hotbox. Then in 2016, people started telling me they liked the songs I was putting together and I started putting my music on SoundCloud. Through a mutual friend, I met my engineer and producer Cruzz and since 2020 we really started to take it more seriously and just focused on perfecting our craft.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think the rod has been smooth. I started doing music for fun so I think so far we absolutely exceeded our expectations. The biggest struggle we have right now is just promotion but that has been improving these past couple of months. When it comes to making music of course we would love to turn this into our main source of income. But right we are just focused on not only perfecting our craft but also falling in love with this process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a rapper based out of Long Beach, CA. What most people know me for is the chill vibes we provide. And this is what also sets us apart from other artists. I am most proud of what we have been putting together these past couple of months. My good friend and partner Malik Baker has put together some amazing music videos for us and I can’t wait to see what else we can create in the near future.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
The biggest piece of advice I can give someone is to not be shy. When you are out those simple conversations with people can turn into connections. I think a lot of people in the entertainment business in general are always trying to make money when starting off, but I think your main focus should be in building those relationships and building your brand.
