Meet Ceejay.t

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ceejay.t.

Ceejay, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hi, my name is Ceejay and I’m a 24-year-old Photographer based in Los Angeles / Orange County. I started photography back in April of 2017. I work as a Nurse full time at Cedars Sinai Medical Center while I do photography on the side on my days off from work. I started taking pictures using the camera my parents gave me as a high school graduation gift back in 2012. I started taking pics at my family get together than a little bit of nature then I went back to school for my nursing till my friend who is a photographer invited me to a meet up in Long Beach. I thought it was just going to be a regular get together kind of thing, but it was more than that. After the meetup and by looking at the pictures I took of the models that was at the meetup. I would never thought that in my entire life that I would be passionate about portrait photography. That meet up made a huge impact and boost for me to start pursuing what I love. I started reaching out to OC/LA models and even other photographers on Instagram. I made a new Instagram just for my photography account, not a lot of people messaged me back as to I was barely starting and I don’t have the “numbers”, but in never stopped me from pursuing and to push through what I love to do. I met so many creatives throughout the photography community. I even met my long term friends that I consider family. I am still learning a lot and I can’t wait what else is in store for me in the future

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been a smooth road and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? Definitely no. One time I remember I went to a shoot not realizing that I didn’t charge my camera the night before the shoot, so I had to go this restaurant and asked the manager if I can charge my camera for a little bit. It was such a stressful day as I was embarrassed that it wasn’t professional of me to forget to charge my camera the night before. I also learned that you don’t compare yourself with other photographers, that was a big struggle for me when I was starting. I wanted to have gain many followers and attention, but I realized that shouldn’t be my motivation. I focused on myself on how I can better myself on my photography and what else I can bring to the table.

What should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I got more and more into photography, mainly Portrait Photography. I’m known for the moody vibe editing style, which is the style that I really fell in love with, that soft and moody feel that my portraits.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career so far is that I inspire people to do more and never be afraid to take a leap of faith. Also, being consistent with your editing as it is important to brand yourself and for other people to notice you.
