Meet Caroline Koziol

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Koziol.

Caroline, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I remember when I was a little child I could spend countless hours reading books, hearing stories that made me dream of a world outside my childhood surroundings. I felt a strong connection with nature and I knew my life would be connected with storytelling. Films and theatre became my passion, addiction and first true love. I feel alive when I’m creating films, when I work on characters to perform, when I learn, explore and discover. But of course it wasn’t that easy, I was born in a small town in the South Part of Poland and no one from my family ever had anything to do with art, let alone films.

I used to sit down on a windowsill in my room in the attic and dream about films, traveling and the world. I knew that one day I would “escape “, spread my wings and “fly away”. I came to the USA because I won a scholarship placement at the University in Ohio, then after my studies, I traveled across the states along the popular Route 66, which led me from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles was a dream come true, lots of amazing, creative artists from all around the world, opportunities, and an endless feeling of freedom. For me, freedom is the best state of mind, and Los Angeles makes you feel free. You can do whatever you want if you work hard towards it and put your mind into it. Just don’t give up.

Has it been a smooth road?
There were, of course, hard moments, but I chose to fight for my dreams. I left my country and family behind to go and follow my path. I ended up experiencing different cultures, different people with no one around that I knew, or that spoke the same language. I needed to start a new life and of course, there were moments when I thought to myself that it’s too long, it’s too hard, but then I found out that it’s just negative voices in my head that I need to overcome it.

I learned that sometimes it is better to be comfortable by yourself than to feel lonely with a group of people that you have no connection with.

Tell us more about your work.
We are making videos and films with people from different backgrounds with different opinions. We are a team of very open-minded people who, through our creativity want to change something.

The last short film that we created is a psychological thriller about a young girl who builds a peculiar relationship with an Al robot.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself as someone who creates meaningful films, travels to lots of countries, runs marathons. I want to reach the World’s highest Seven Summits and create a charity but most of all I see myself as a content person, who is at peace with the choices I make, and is not afraid to stand up for what I believe in and is happy with the person I see in the mirror every morning:)
