Meet Carolina Brown of Rok ‘n’ Ell Baby Boutique in South Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Brown.

Carolina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My husband and I took over the store from our daughter about 7 years ago. The store is named after our grandchildren Roko and Elliot. I am a retired LAUSD teacher and my husband is a retired Beverly Hills Fire Captain.
This store is truly a labor of love and located in a great little neighborhood in San Pedro. We strive to bring excellence in our customer service and products. To keep things interesting I have a monthly art class, we bring in local authors and a ceramic artist to make imprints of children’s hands or feet. At least once a year we even rent a pony just to keep things lively!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have increased sales, but it is never a smooth road. We are always looking for new trends and products. Brick and mortar stores I’m sorry to say are a dying breed.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in high-end children’s clothing and accessories. We are known as a family business who goes the extra mile to help and support our customers. We also have a mom’s corner where we carry women’s accessories and gifts for the home.

What were you like growing up?
Loved to socialize, loved kids!
