Meet Carol Roque of Bebesitas in South El Monte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol Roque.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always felt like part of my purpose in life was to share uplifting and empowering words with others while keeping it raw and fun at the same time. I love t-shirts as well and thought it would be such a cool thing to start which I wanted to create as a hobby at first, but then it developed to something more meaningful. I started my shop not knowing what exactly I was going to do or how I was going to make it happen. I remember the first thing I did was create a social media page, announced that it would be a shop and then worked my way through it. Everything I know now and do I have taught myself. I was so wrong to think I needed experience to do something I had never done before.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think one of the biggest struggles in this journey was starting. This journey has been filled with many lessons and emotions. A lot of trial and errors that helped me grow and keep learning as I proceed. I am the owner, the designer, the promoter, the photographer, and the one who makes the designs come to life. Sometimes it can be overwhelming for me to find balance between my life and my shop. Balance is something I continue to practice. Sometimes I am able to manifest it and other times, I need to put in more effort. Overall, I am happy to discover that it is possible to find that balance and also learning that it’s okay to rest when I need to.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Bebesitas – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Bebesitas was created to promote self-expression through everyday cultural lifestyle, Latin music, self-love, self-care, and women empowerment. My mission is to empower females to be confident and proud of their individuality. I make fun and empowering t-shirts. One of the things I feel proud of creating this brand is knowing that many people feel empowered and resonate with the designs I create, which is part of my brand’s purpose. One of the things that set me apart from others may be that I create a lot of different designs and different styles of it and don’t focus on one type of audience.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to keep creating and growing. I am not sure what the universe has planned for me yet, but I am open to whatever it has to offer. Whether it is quitting my day job to fully focus on my brand or continuing to balance the two out.
