Meet Carlos Demond Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Demond Davis.

Carlos, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve learned to love my life! I went from one goal to the next, and I’ve accomplished each goal that I set out to do.

Here’s my story… I was born in Mobile Alabama I grew up in the south my mom moved us to Florida for six years or so, then we moved again and eventually settled in Texas during that time I got a younger brother so my mom and my brother are my, Why. In the midst of life, I stumbled into modeling by chance. I’ve since been featured in national campaign ads, magazines, walked in fashion shows and featured in music videos.

#modelingdays. Modeling took me from Texas to NYC and then eventually here to Cali. I began to find that the acting bug wasn’t that far away, so I got my start in the background on all of your favorite TV shows, and by doing that, I got on the job training. I learned how to watch all the pros work on their craft, from being a stand-in for Forrest Whitaker on criminal minds to being a stand-in for Will Smith on the After Earth NBA playoff commercial and numerous others. So once I got my tool kit ready shout out to Mike pointer, hey I saw your commercial. I started auditioning and booking gigs on my own. I’ve been able get my IMDB credits up, so I’ve been blessed to act in movies, commercials and short films as a principal role, so not just background anymore, I’m official. #actorslife. During my ups and downs in life, I always wrote to kinda help my mind stay positive because with moving a lot I got in a few fights here and there so my mom told me instead fighting I just need to channel that aggression by writing down my thoughts and feelings and why I’m angry etc. and by doing that, my words and thoughts became poems, my poetry created an opportunity for me to become a published author I have a new poetry book published entitled Conscious Mentality on Amazon. I also have a podcast on Spotify called poetrycornerpodcast where I discuss the thought process behind the poems I’ve written and my inspiration. #publishedauthor

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For all the ups there have also been a whole lot of downs. From being homeless to living in my car at times to headaches so severe, they left me temporarily blind in my right eye due to crazy stress, not getting certain roles I auditioned for and also my other books couldn’t be purchased anymore because the publishing company went out of business etc a few deaths rocked our family like when my pops passed away Feb 11, 2018. My family is of course, still adjusting to his absence, but I will say that these things have truly molded me into the man I am today.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m an actor and a published author. I also host poetrycornerpodcast on Spotify. I’m most proud of my new book #ConsciousMentality on Amazon. It’s one of those things that I created with my own hands and no one else could take credit for. Even when I’m dead and gone, my words will continue to live on.

My poetry is different than others because it’s just my unique voice, and yet a lot of people can relate. I’ve learned that with poetry, there is really no right or wrong answer with it, because multiple people could read the same exact poem and get something entirely different from it, because of how our minds operate.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
A key characteristic is to never give up, I know its cliche, but it’s really true, there’s always a bunch of no’s and closed doors as you search for that one yes or that big break but if you quit you’ll never experience success, period.

Once you achieve a dream, you don’t stop dreaming anymore you dream again and again till you sleep forever.
