Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Spiropulo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Our Bars were born out of my desire to offer my kids a sweet treat that was a better choice than store-bought candy. After doing extensive research on how food production has drastically changed in the last 50 years, I made the important connection between the quality of our food and the quality of our lives.
I learned about the negative impact of factory farming, the importance of buying organic and non-GMO, and the profound benefits of a plant-based diet. By incorporating this new approach to food, I witnessed my health improve immensely, I no longer experienced heartburn, my anemia became a thing of the past, and my daughter’s allergies disappeared.
As my kids grew, I looked for a healthy alternative to candy bars my kids loved. Since I couldn’t really find anything I began experimenting in my kitchen with foods I knew had nutritional and health-enhancing benefits. I felt so strongly about making a difference in the way people ate that I wanted to share this bar with everyone, not just my family and friends.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road. =) There are challenges daily and what I’ve learned thus far is to ride the wave. Sometimes things are incredibly exciting and fun and other times they’re not.
Nelly’s Organics – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I do a little of everything. I’d say my specialty is coming up with recipes. I’m very proud that we manufacture all of our own products and we have created a very warm and welcoming place to work. I’m proud and grateful to have found people who work with us, who really care about our company and treat it as their own.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I love getting emails from customers telling us how much they love our bars. I guess that’s a very proud moment since that was the goal initially. Having created something that people connect with is a very good feeling.
