Meet Candice Swanson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Swanson.

Hi Candice, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved capturing time but also see what would develop in the darkroom is what really got me into photography when I was in high school. It was a magical place I could see my creations come to life on film then the paper, then in the light! I went to the Art Institute of Colorado and received my photography degree in mostly commercial photography such as products and such.

But with every open assignment, I chose to photograph people and really fell in love with the emotion of photography and keeping memories forever. After college, I went to a newborn photography workshop and fell head over heels in love with tiny babies and posing them. I am currently in Huntington Beach California for three years now and loving every minute of it but differently different than Nebraska where I grew up my whole life. I love the tiny babies sooooo much that I now teach my own workshops teaching other photographers how to pose newborns safely and properly. Best job in the world for sure!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been an interesting ride for sure! I really had to find what I enjoyed about photography, not just the process, then becoming really good at one genre was key for sure! I found my passion in newborn and maternity photography and worked and still work hard to improve my craft as an artist and give my clients the best luxury full service I can give them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in maternity, posed newborns and 1st year of life. I am most proud of really growing as a person and business owner. I believe those two things go hand in hand. I am also very proud that I am now teaching other photographers how to really pose newborns beautifully and create an amazing time for their clients also. What sets me apart from other photographers in that my clients are taking care of 100 percent, they have an unbelievable experience and know that they will walk away with memories they will cherish for many generations to enjoy.
